Primary Education

The general objectives addressed in the primary educational stage at New Castelar College are very diverse. Throughout the entire Primary Stage, students must:

• Know the values and norms of coexistence, learn to act in accordance with them and respect the pluralism of a democratic society.
• Develop a responsible attitude and respect for others, which in turn leads to a climate in which personal freedom, learning and coexistence can thrive
• Develop habits of hard work and responsibility in their school work, as well as attitudes of curiosity and interest for independent learning.
• Develop individual initiative and the habit of teamwork.
• Know and correctly use both Spanish and English in their oral and written forms, and acquire good reading habits.
• Learn how to solve problems that require performing elementary calculations, knowledge of geometry and estimations.
• Know the fundamental aspects of natural sciences, geography, history and culture.
• Start to learn a third language. From 3rd grade onwards, our students study a third language, GERMAN.
• Develop an entrepreneurial spirit. The school encourages attitudes of self-confidence, critical approach, creativity and personal initiative.
• Learn and become competent in the use of information and communication technologies.
